Katie enjoys working collaboratively with adults, teens, and children in the North Texas Area. She prioritizes genuineness and acceptance in her work with clients to build a safe space to achieve growth. Katie operates from an attachment-based lens, working with clients to learn to build or re-build trusting, supportive relationships to help address areas of struggle or difficulty.
Katie is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), a treatment modality that utilizes resourcing and dual attention between past and present to help make connections between the hemispheres of the brain and decrease symptoms impacting daily life. She also has specialized training in play therapy and attachment trauma work. Katie applies this training to her work not only with children and teens, but also adults and parents.
Katie’s passion for helping children and families grew during her time at Texas State University, where she studied family and child development and psychology. While earning a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Texas, Katie gained clinical experience working at a non-profit providing individual and group counseling to children, teens, and adults individuals impacted by family violence and sexual trauma. Katie also gained experience in a group private practice, providing individual and group counseling to clients of all ages struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and attachment-based concerns.
When Katie is not working, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She loves attending sporting events, live music, watching movies, and reading, especially Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books. Katie has three lovely pets, a sassy cat, Zoey, and two scrappy goldendoodles, Mosby and Leela.
