Katie has a huge heart for helping children, teens, and families in the North Texas area. She believes in the importance of unconditional positive regard and genuineness in building a safe therapeutic environment for all clients. Katie believes every person, child or adult, is possible of healing and growth if they are provided a safe and accepting space to work through struggles. She believes in addressing struggles from a holistic approach, encouraging the coordination of parents, physicians, teachers, and other professionals to ensure clients have the wrap around support they deserve. Katie meets each individual client where they’re at, recognizing that a diagnosis or label does not fully encompass all that a person is.

Katie believes all children and teens are capable of thriving in their home and school lives. She specializes in play therapy for clients ages 3+, where children use their natural language of play to work through problems and express feelings. She engages teens in activity therapy, expressive arts, talk therapy, and sand tray therapy, which all allow teens to better explore their feelings, build self-esteem, and identify positive coping skills. She also specializes in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), a treatment modality that helps clients of all ages address emotionally charged events and trauma in their lives.

Katie’s passion for helping children and families grew in her time at Texas State University, where she studied family and child development. She graduated with her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Texas, which is the leading school for play therapy in the country. Katie gained clinical experience working at a non-profit organization in Denton, providing individual and group counseling to children and individuals impacted by family violence. Katie also worked in a group private practice setting, providing individual and group counseling to children and teens, as well as adults, struggling with a variety of concerns.

When Katie is not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Jordon. She loves sports, watching movies, especially Harry Potter and MARVEL movies, and being outdoors. Katie has three lovely pets, a sassy kitty cat, Zoey, and two scrappy goldendoodles, Mosby and Leela.
