Macy is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the North Texas area, and a National Certified Counselor, supervised by Dee Ray, Ph.D, LPC-S, NCC, RPT-S. She is truly passionate about supporting children and their families through play therapy and building upon the child-parent relationship. Macy also enjoys connecting with teens, and adults with a variety of presenting concerns. Macy strives to create a client-led therapeutic environment marked by warmth, genuineness, and unconditional acceptance to all clients. She prioritizes safety and believes the healing process to be collaborative. Macy values the uniqueness of each client and tailors’ treatment plans and parent consults specific to the client needs.

Macy, using her training in person-centered counseling, has experience utilizing a trauma-focused lens when working with clients through play, activity, and talk therapy. She applies the evidenced-based powers of play therapy, which provides a unique environment for children to work through their struggles and express themselves in developmentally appropriate ways. Additionally, family involvement and support are vital in Macy’s work, and she encourages a child’s primary caregiver to be an active part of the process. While working with teens, she engages them in activities, expressive arts and sand-tray which allows them to gain self-directed insight, explore their feelings, build self-esteem, and recognize positive coping skills. Above all, Macy values the power of building a therapeutic relationship and believes every individual, child or adult, is capable of growth through sharing experiences, gaining insight into self and patterns, and growing through the challenges of life.

Macy discovered the medium of counseling to help children and families during her time at the University of North Texas, where she obtained her B.S. in Development and Family Studies. She went on to graduate with her Master of Science in Counseling with a specialization in play therapy from the University of North Texas, which is the leading school for play therapy in the country. Macy is currently working towards full licensure as an LPC and her Registered Play Therapist credentials.

Macy gained her clinical experience while working with clients impacted by family violence and sexual assault at Denton County Friends of the Family. Macy provided play therapy, adolescent therapy, individual filial therapy, adult in-crisis counseling, and developed an adult psychoeducational group on boundaries during her time at the agency. Macy also has experience working in a school setting to provide play therapy for children who were struggling in the classroom.

When Macy is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her two cats (Rizzo & Waffles). She also loves playing sports, doing anything outdoorsy, traveling, and ice skating.
