Shayna (she, her, hers) believes that each of us inherently possess the knowledge inside ourselves to heal, grow, overcome, and develop a meaningful life, no matter the external or internal adversity. Her ultimate goal as a counselor is to empower clients to move towards their values while facing the lemons life gives! When clients feel stuck and defeated, Shayna helps them tune in, notice patterns, unhook from what is not working, and develop energizing resources.

Shayna is a collaborator alongside clients and encourages creative solutions to getting needs met. She is a strengths-based and client-centered counselor, who takes a holistic and relational approach. Her practice is based in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy with influences from narrative therapy, SFT, CBT, DBT, and Neff's self compassion work.

Shayna is a trained multicultural counselor who honors diversity and broaches it therapeutically. We are all dealt a special hand that shapes how we experience the world and how the world sees us. She affirms the identities that are important to clients (race, gender, sexuality, religion, culture, nationality, etc.) and uses it as needed in the healing process.

Shayna earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling with an emphasis on multiculturalism from the University of Colorado in Denver. She also received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 2010. While in Colorado, Shayna interned at the Gender Identity Center of Colorado and the Counseling Center at the University of Colorado Denver. In Texas, she has worked in the private practice setting and at eating disorder facilities in the PHP and IOP level of care.

Shayna is a native Texan and loves music, cats/animals, singing, rain showers, and spending time with family.
