EMDR therapy

"The goal of EMDR Treatment is to rapidly metabolize the dysfunctional residue from the past and transform it into something useful" - Francine Shapiro, Founder of EMDR Therapy
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a unique, evidence-based treatment approach that helps the body and brain heal emotional distress caused by painful life experiences. EMDR can be used with clients of all ages to overcome challenges from painful life experiences and decrease disturbance in daily life.
How does it work?
EMDR engages the brain using "bilateral stimulation" (a fancy way to say side to side) through eye movements and tapping to help the brain safely reprocess traumatic or painful life experiences. By doing so, it decreases emotional intensity, overwhelm, and distress.
Research shows EMDR can help people work through their distress in just a few months compared to years in talk therapy. This is because EMDR does not require you discuss your distress or experiences verbally in detail, and instead, supports the body to process experiences.
The World Health Organization (WHO), American Psychological Association (APA), and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognize EMDR as an effective treatment for various concerns.
