Therapy isn't just for kids or women! Men of all ages can benefit from receiving their own support. We often find men are trying to keep it all together for the people in their life, leaving them feeling angry, anxious, alone, depressed, confused, or trapped. You deserve a space of your own to connect with yourself, find the words to express yourself, and feel confident about who you are.
You may be experiencing:
Anxiety or worry
Anger or irritability
Shut down or disconnection when experiencing emotion
Struggles identifying emotions or feelings
Conflict with partners, children, friends, or co-workers
Feeling alone or never truly known
Depression
Feeling like you are going through the motions of life
Career dissatisfaction
Struggles being present with others
Lack of friendships/peers
Avoidance of hard conversations
Feeling responsible for everyone in your life
What does therapy for men look like?
Therapy starts with getting acquainted with your feelings, experiences, and self. The process then involves exploring your relationship with your feelings, identifying patterns, processing distress, and creating a sense of felt-safety within (think Ted Lasso or the Sopranos). Some sessions may focus on a particular event, topic, or concern. Other sessions may focus on using directive, experiential approaches to process stuck patterns, explore feelings, and provide relief from distress. Whatever your goals, you can get there.
Our therapists utilize approaches that integrate both the body and the mind, such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, expressive arts, movement, sand tray therapy, and more.
Therapy can help you:
Decrease anxiety and stress responses
Connect with your emotions and feelings
Express feelings more openly, without shame
Practice regulation skills
Process traumatic or painful life experiences
Improve your capacity for distress and frustration
Improve physical manifestations of stress or anxiety
Identify a sense of self
Improve sleeping and eating patterns
Feel more confident and empowered
Feel more connected to yourself and others
Connect to your body and be more present/embodied
There is no timeline for how long it takes to feel better and reduce distress. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes, and we do offer extended sessions for deeper processing and based on need. We offer holistic mental health services in-person at our office in Plano and virtually across Texas.
