Whether you are 18 or 78, we can help support you through all phases of life. We find most of our clients are trying to balance multiple things in life. Women can be chronic overfunctioners, meaning they are trying to do all the things, all the time, in the most perfect way possible. But what ends up happening is burnout, exhaustion, anger, anxiety, and struggles to set boundaries (or even know what they would be). And then the perimenopause or menopause symptoms start, adding another layer of stress and confusion.
You may be experiencing:
Overwhelm
Anxiety or panic
Perfectionism or fear of failure
Poor sleep
Physical concerns (headaches, GI problems, joint pain, migraines, etc.)
Anger reactivity or irritability
Brain fog or forgetfulness
Depression
Obsessive thinking
A lack of identity or knowing who you are
Constant high stress with no relief
Loneliness
Feeling responsible for everyone around you
What does therapy for women look like?
There are many different ways to accomplish the growth, steadiness, and peace that many women are looking for. We often find focusing on the entirety of you as a person, instead of just focusing on symptoms, is the best way to achieve your goals in sessions.
Some sessions may be just taking an hour for yourself, allowing a pause between life's busy moments to truly come back to yourself and your body. Other sessions may utilize various directive, experential approaches in order to process stuck patterns and stuck feelings in the body. Therapy is meant to be a safe place to take a breath, feel grounded in yourself, and find joy again.
Our therapists utilize approaches that integrate both the body and the mind, such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, expressive arts, movement, sand tray therapy, and more.
Therapy can help you:
Decrease anxiety and stress responses
Practice regulation skills
Feel more confident and empowered
Process traumatic or painful life experiences
Improve physical manifestations of stress or anxiety
Set boundaries (and identify what they are)
Identify a sense of self
Improve sleeping and eating patterns
Feel more connected to yourself and others
Express feelings more openly, without shame
Connect to your body and be more present/embodied
There is no timeline for how long it takes to feel better and reduce distress. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes, and we do offer extended sessions for deeper processing and based on need. We offer holistic mental health services in-person at our office in Plano and virtually across Texas.
