attachment & relationship therapy

Attachment to others gets formed early in life and can impact our ability to show up in relationships as a child, teen, and/or adult. There are many things that can impact our ability to safely connect with others. Whether you are struggling to make friends, maintain relationships, or find a healthy romantic partner, we can help.

You or your child may be experiencing:

  • Negative self-concept (deep ongoing feelings of shame, guilt, or worthlessness)

  • Relationship difficulties (deep mistrust of others and/or fear of abandonment)

  • Loneliness or isolation

  • People-pleasing behaviors

  • Struggles setting boundaries (or knowing what they are)

  • Consistently feeling misunderstood or unseen

  • A pattern of chaotic relationships

  • Struggles to identify what you want in a partner or friend

  • Struggles with physical touch and affection

  • Avoiding connection due to exhaustion

  • Substance use

  • Feeling like you have to "perform" in relationship to be loved and accepted

  • Negative beliefs

  • Struggles experiencing joy or happiness

What does attachment therapy look like?

Healing attachment wounds involves helping you identify the relationship patterns that exist, identifying where these patterns may have emerged, and identifying ways to disrupt them. The goal is to be able to experience positive, safe relationship. We utilize Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, education, and attachment-based therapies to address what might be relationally stuck.

Our attachment therapists move at your pace, creating safety and containment in the therapeutic relationship. Allowing your nervous system to experience safety in real time allows for corrective relational experiences. We as humans heal attachment wounds through these corrective relationship experiences.

Therapy can help you or your child:

  • Process trauma

  • Decrease activation and reactivity in relationships

  • Identify stuck patterns and ways to shift them

  • Create safe attachment

  • Foster identity development through identifying wants & needs in relationship

  • Practice healthy communication and emotional expression

  • Increase self-esteem, self-worth, and confidence in relationships

There is no timeline for how long it takes to feel better and reduce distress. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes, and we do offer extended sessions for deeper processing and based on need. We offer holistic mental health services in-person at our office in Plano and virtually across Texas.
